Planning Sustainable Communities
CIER delivered an intensive 3-day training workshop at a First Nation in Saskatchewan to assist them in developing their comprehensive community plan. These plans are a valuable tool that will guide decisions for sustainable living and a healthy environment on First Nations lands. First Nation members involved in developing the plan were engaged in hands-on activities to help them through the planning process; to develop solutions to challenges in their community. Culturally relevant tools, such as the medicine wheel, were adapted to engage community members in developing a community vision. This work builds on past comprehensive community planning training developed and delivered by CIER to First Nations across Canada.
