Indigenous Waste Management Capacity Building and Collaboration Phase II


Through funding from Indigenous Services Canada, we are currently working with several Indigenous communities in Manitoba, through several interconnected projects, to develop and implement waste management programs and solutions.

This Work Includes:

​End-of-life vehicle programs 
  • Removal of derelict vehicles from communities, and establishing waste diversion and environmental management opportunities 

​Support on communications and education
  • Development and provision of education materials
  • Support to develop resource materials in Indigenous languages
  • Training and administration governance packages and reports to support communities establishing environmental authorities
 
Training and support for communities
  • Waste management training for flood-impacted communities 
  • Workshops and on-going support on how to foster relations with municipalities and develop municipal-type service agreements (MTSAs) for your Nation or Tribal Council 
  • Proposal writing workshops and 1:1 support in accessing funding for waste initiatives

Research on innovative waste solutions and pilot projects to implement new waste management initiatives
