Canadian Boreal Forest Agreement First Nations Outreach and Indigenous Knowledge Gathering
The Canadian Boreal Forest Agreement Manitoba Regional Working Group (CBFA MB RWG), asked CIER to provide advice and assistance with First Nations outreach and Indigenous Knowledge Gathering, in regards to their planning and work around Tolko's Forest Management Area #02. The CBFA MB RWG will make recommendations to governments on protected areas and recovery of species at risk, particularly woodland caribou.
CIER has been advising the CBFA MB RWG and engaging First Nations in the region to ensure they get the information they need about the Agreement and determine their level of participation. As part of this work, CIER also carried out a Land Use Study with one of the First Nations in the area.
