Aboriginal Traditional Knowledge in Action Earth Rangers Mission
CIER partnered with Earth Rangers to develop an Aboriginal Traditional Knowledge (ATK) Mission for kids! This mission combined learning about Indigenous culture and animals, interacting with Elders, and an artistic challenge. Earth Rangers that completed the ATK mission submitted their art and a judging panel decided the winners. The judging panel was comprised of a youth alumni from our water leaders program, a CIER Board Member, and an Elder.
"Since its official launch on June 15, 6,750 members have accepted the ATK in Action mission and 3,087 have reported completion. To date, we have received 716 story submissions, along with 337 photographs of artwork, expressing an overwhelmingly positive response from our members " ( Earth Rangers ATK in Action Report 2017)
CIER was proud to be a part of this fantastic initiative to inform children across Canada about Aboriginal Traditional Knowledge and how ATK is used to protect the environment. This mission was generously supported by the RBC Foundation and Environment Canada.
